Mom Breastfeeds 3 Year Old Son Nurture or Abuse?

The mom of a 3 year old (soon to be 4) has come under fire as a result of a photo that covers the May 2012 issue of Time Magazine. The magazine shows a photo of a woman with an exposed breast, covered by the mouth of her son, as they stand and pose for the camera.  Pics and story below NSFW

 As parents in America part of our freedom entitles us to make child rearing decisions as long as what we decide brings no physical or mental harm to the child. Jamie Lynne Grumet is an LA mother who says that her mom practiced attached parenting and she and her sister never thought of raising their children any differently.
The feature story was written to show that there's no stereotypical look for parents that practice attached parenting. It features photos of various attached parents and their reasons for adopting that particular parenting style.

The mom on the cover of the mag also has an adopted Ethiopian son that she breast fed to help him get through the trauma of being uprooted from his Native Land.

The author of the article states that in some of the instances, the children were to big to be held so she suggested that they stand ,  as in Grumet's case.
